Wisdom From Proverbs 16:3

My pastor did mentioned before that the written word (bible) is the number one way God speaks to us. For the past 2 days consecutively, I chanced upon the same verse – Proverbs 16:3, first from mediate for success and the second occasion from youversion’s verse of the day.

Commit your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established.
Proverbs 16:3 NKJV

I had previous encounters where a same verse would keep appearing to me, “smacking” me right into my face and I could resonate with it. Thus I believe it is Him who wants to speak to me and is trying to tell me something.

So, I knew I had to dig deeper and really understand what the verse is trying to bring across. On the surface, the verse looks simple just as it is – commit to Lord and thoughts be established (Duh! Simple English huh?).

But what does it really mean? Then I realized I don’t really understand “your thoughts will be established” (Ok, I confess that I am not that good with my English language)

So, I checked all the key words in the verse from Merriam Webster dictionary:

Commit = to put into charge or trust
Works = accomplished by effort, labor, perform something
Thoughts = a developed intention or plan
Establish = to bring into existence, to put into a favorable position

And here’s my revelation:

Whatever things you wish to have or struggling to perform (career, finance, health relationship etc), invite God into your situation and let Him take charge and trust Him fully. He will make your plans manifest, bringing forth into existence and you will succeed. We just need to rest upon Jesus’s finished work at the cross.

If you checked out the Amplified version, this verse will be much clearer:

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Proverbs 16: 3 AMP
Yes, there are certain areas in my life right that I would like to let God be in charge. I know He will guide me continually and I believe all things will work out to be good!
